School and Such

Its been a while! Quite a while….

Life has been pretty busy lately. For those of you who aren’t aware (I don’t know why you wouldn’t be, but I’ll continue anyway) I am currently enrolled in the Web Development program (well technically now its called Internet Applications and Web Development because they decided to change it for some reason) at Durham College in Oshawa, Ontario.

Yes, its quite a ways away from home, but as I’m sure most of you are aware, I was born in Ontario and lived in Ontario until I was 13. This is the longest I’ve been in the province since then. But, I had never been to Oshawa before, in my life so it was still a new experience for me. And driving in Ontario has been quite the experience too, since I learned to drive in the middle of nowhere in Northern Alberta, and got my driver’s license in less of nowhere in Southern Alberta.

With that said, I’m enjoying myself. For the most part. I’ve made a few friends. I’m not the best at making friends since I tend to be slightly anti-social at times, but I have met a few people that I really like.

Roommates

These people include my roommate. She’s pretty cool! I have to say she’s the best roommate I’ve ever had.

I liked the first roommates I had (Leandra, Dana and Eden) at Lethbridge College, but I didn’t stay with them. It was nothing personal against them, but an opening came up in the two bedroom suite, which was my first choice in residence so I took it, thinking it would be good for me with homewokr and such. I was correct, in that sense but the roommate situation, not so much. My roommate Katelyn was nice… as far as I could tell. She was always locked inside her bedroom and I rarely ever saw her. She hung out with me and my friend Cara once or twice but when we got back she went into her room and shut her door. The last day that she was there at the end of the year we went to Tim Horton’s for and ended up hanging out and talking for two or three hours. And it was fun but we don’t keep in touch. I did see her once in Lethbrige a few months ago and we talked for a few minutes but that’s it.

My roommate at Peace River Bible Institute was pretty cool. I like her too and we got along pretty well but we didn’t really hang out much.

But my roommate here in Oshawa I get along with really well. We seem to be a lot alike in personality, but in a good way. We haven’t gotten into any fights or anything yet lol. We seem to like the same TV shows, so we don’t fight over the TV at all. She watches it more than I do though, which doesn’t bother me at all. She even has relatives in Alberta too, and she’s been there, which is cool. I like her. Like I said, best roommate I’ve had!

Classes

My classes have been pretty good so far. Some have been fairly boring for me though, but only because I’m not actually learning anything. Well, I am, but I’m not. lol.

Mathematics for Computing
Fairly easy class. Learning things that I will definitely use. Remember things that I don’t remember how to do from high school math. And by “remembering” I mean that I’m remembering that I learned them but I don’t remember how to do them. Luckily, this class isn’t a normal math class. Its been described as being like an intro to programming class. We cover, briefly, some math concepts, and then we switch over to how to do them as if we were using them in JavaScript, rather than regular math.

Vector Graphics
This class is all about Adobe Illustrator. Definitely learning things in this class. Although, I took a graphic design class in Lethbridge, it didn’t cover as much about Illustrator as we’ve done in this class. I have a gigantic assignment due in a couple weeks where I have to recreate a company logo. Some how I got sucked into doing the Firefox logo. Its one of the hardest ones to do apparently, and I’ve already seen that. I started on it last week. All I’ve done so far is outlines but I don’t know what to do with half of it. Its very complicated.

Interface Design I
The instructor for this class is ridiculously hard to listen to! He’s extremely mono-toned and even more quiet. This class has been somewhat repetitive for me from a class I took in Lethbridge, so sometimes I don’t pay attention. I try, but its really hard.

Communication Essentials
Fancy name for English. I tried to get credit for this class but failed in that attempt. This is the third post-secondary English I’ve been forced to take so I’m doing pretty good in it so far. I’m a terrible writer. I’m fully aware of that. I have a hard time putting my thoughts into words. Or sometimes coming up with topics. I’m fairly good with grammar and spelling and such though so I have a pretty good mark so far.

Digital Imaging I
This class is all about Photoshop. Also, repetitive for me. Bigger projects though.

Extensible HTML
Obviously title, if you know anything about anything related to website design. So far the easiest class in this program, for me, because not only have I learned about it in college previously, I’ve been working with HTML for about 8 years. Most of my knowledge is self-taugh, but I got the basic understanding of it in a computer programming course I took in Junior High. We’re just starting to get into CSS, barely. Which is something else I’ve known for a while, but its all self-taught, and some things I picked up at LC.

Work

On top of my school work-load, I also have a part-time job. I transferred from Michaels, The Arts & Crafts Store in Lethbridge, Alberta to the one in Oshawa. I’m currently working way more hours than I should be too. I do need to talk to my manager about that but I’m going to see if I can make it past mid-term stress (which is happening right now) and maybe it won’t be too bad. I might have to ask for less hours though.

Anyways, I should probably get back to my homework. I finally finished my Photoshop project that’s due tomorrow but I have an XHTML assignment due on Friday night and a group project for Interface Design due on Tuesday and I have to work tomorrow night, Friday night and Saturday. And with my luck, probably Sunday too but I haven’t seen next week’s schedule yet.

That’s all for now.

Peace.

… ok did I really just say that…? I never say “Peace”… Weird.

P.S.
Oh yeah, an update on my friend Chris Craigman: he unfortunately did not make the top 16 of the MuchMusic VJ Search 2.0. But he totally would have made an awesome VJ!

MacBook Pro

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009

I got a new computer!! Since I’m going back to school in September I was able to get a discount on a brand new MacBook Pro and a brand new iPod!

I’m still working on getting all my files and software transferred from my iMac to my new MacBook Pro. I’m pretty much done but I keep finding random things I’ve forgotten.

I am still getting used to the MacBook Pro. Smaller screen res and not a full keyboard lol. It throws me off a little bit.

Also, I was having some problems with my internet too, but I think I got that fixed… for now. lol

Anyways, I think I have mostly everything work now, but knowing me, I’ll find something else that I’ve forgotten over the next couple days. The good thing is that I have the same version of Mac OS X on both my iMac and MacBook Pro so I haven’t had anything new to learn as far as that goes. The trackpad on the other hand, is way different than any other laptop I’ve ever used, so far I like it but I keep accidentally coming across new things it does and it then I sit and play with it for 10 minutes. I get very easily distracted lol.

Something else I noticed is that when I’m typing the keys are louder than on my keyboard for my iMac. Although, I think it is still a little quieter than the keys on my old laptop lol.

I love the back light though!! My room is kind of dark right now because I haven’t turned on my light and my blinds are closed and I can see the keys, no problem. With my iMac’s keyboard, or any other keyboard I’ve ever used I would have turned on the light in my room by now because I couldn’t see the letters. Well, maybe not because I don’t look at the keys that much and I have been known to sit in the dark with my computer and type long blog entries or emails lol. But still, I didn’t even think about turning on the light until I started talking about the backlight on the keyboard.

Now, I have to teach my parents how to use my iMac, since they’re taking it. Its been about 7 years or so since they’ve used a Mac, other than the random times they used mine or my grandpa’s. They’ve been using Windows XP (Windows 98 and 2000 before that) so its a big change for them.

Anyways, I guess I’m going to go take a shower. I just finished exercising and I haven’t done anything else today except fix my internet and eat breakfast. Amazingly, I haven’t turned on any TV in the house yet today. That’s actually quite rare, I always turn on the TV for background noise or when I exercise, but I’ve been listening to music all morning (mostly from iTunes, but used iPod when I exercised).

I had a whole bunch of other things I was going to ramble on about with my new computer but I’ve forgotten most of them now. I’ll probably remember later lol. Don’t be surprised if I add stuff to this post later.

My First RAM Upgrade

Saturday, April 12th, 2008

So I just did my first RAM upgrade! I bought a second 512MB memory module for my laptop because it was having so many issues at start up for the most part. It would have to be running for like an hour and ha half at least before it would run somewhat normally. The good thing is that I don’t use my laptop that often anymore because I got an iMac. It kind of a pain using two computers because your files aren’t together. That why I don’t use this thing much anymore.

I’m actually on my laptop right now because I came home to Taber last night because it was getting way too hot in my room in residence, my RAM was here and I wanted to wash some clothes but I hate paying to do laundry.

So I put in my new RAM module last night. I can’t believe the difference it made! Well, I can actually because I knew it was going to make a difference. Well, if it didn’t then there was more problems lol. Well, I’m sure there is more problems but this is helping for now. For the amount that I actually use this thing, spending $25 on RAM was definitely worth it. I can actually open things when it first starts up now. I used to have to wait at least 5-10 minutes before I could even open my browser or Microsoft Word. Even with stopping my AVG Anti-Virus scan, because that seems to take up a lot of memory while it’s scanning. But it’s scanning right now and I’m not having any problems. I had my laptop on for like 20 minutes and I was able to open my browser right away and MSN and not have any issues, except that my cable went out about 10 minutes ago, right after I got to the page where I write my blog entries, so I lost my internet connection lol. But it came back like two minutes ago.

I keep trying to convince my parents to let me upgrade the RAM in my mom’s computer (my dad’s computer isn’t worth it, it gets used less often than my laptop) because it basically has the same issues that my laptop was having at start up, with things running too slow. I know it will make a difference but they still won’t agree to it. Although if I just ordered the RAM modules for it they would let me do it lol. Even though I keep telling them that it’s the easiest thing to do to a computer (and the computer companies don’t even make it difficult to do the upgrade yourself, including Apple, and they’re more picky), they don’t really care. One day, I will upgrade the RAM on that stupid Wal-Mart computer! lol. Even though we bought it at Wal-Mart it’s not horrible. It runs and it does what my mom needs it to do, but she does complain about it being slow. But I think that computer has had the least problems any of our other computers (excluding all Apple computers we’ve ever had)  we’ve owned. But it has a crappy processor in it. I could upgrade that too. That’s not too hard to do either lol. But it doesn’t really need it. It could probably use a new video card, which I could also do. Lol.

Oh yeah, the thing I found really odd with my laptop, that I never noticed before, was that my original RAM module that came in my laptop (I’m still using it) is missing 64MB. It’s only 448MB and it’s supposed to be 512MB. I mean yeah, I can see it missing a small about but that’s a fair bit. So now I have 960MB of RAM when I should have 1024MB (1GB). It’s odd. I was thinking that I might order another module of the stuff I just bought but I might not because even though I don’t have a full gigabyte, it still made a huge difference.

Anyways, I’ll stop rambling now.

OS X Update

Monday, February 11th, 2008

I’m so excited! I just got my first Mac OS X Software Update!! When I purchased my iMac it has OS X 10.5.1 on it. I’m now in the process of downloading the update for 10.5.2. Ok, for you non-computer people that’s not all that exciting to you but for people like me who love computers the way I do, you’ll understand.

I also had fun on the weekend doing stuff on Cara’s MacBook. She got her brother’s MacBook a few weeks ago and she wanted to get some word processing software. I recommended iWork’08, rather than Microsoft Office Mac mostly because I like it better (I have both). It’s also cheaper. The only type of application it doesn’t come with is email software, but Mac’s have that MacMail software anyway. But Cara doesn’t need that anyway. iWork also has better templates for resumes, letters, envelopes, etc. than Office does.

Anyways, I’m not trying to promote any software here, but if you are considering… lol. Just kidding. I won’t. That’s not the point of this post.

I hadn’t realized what version of the OS X software was required for iWork ‘08, although I did remember the version that Cara had: 10.4.8. iWork needs 10.4.10 or higher. Luckily, there was an update available for her which brought her up to 10.4.11. So after hours of downloading updates (I’m pretty sure Stephen rarely updated that thing while he had it because there were a LOT of updates) I was finally able to install iWork for Cara.

But yeah, it was exciting, even though I didn’t really get to do much, other than watch it download for 5 hours. I get excited by those kinds of things.

Anywho, I’m going to go. I have some stuff I forgot to buy yesterday so I’m going to go do that now, while my OS X update is downloading.

Are You Smarter than a Computer Tech Support Guy?

Sunday, December 30th, 2007

I AM!!

Why do they hire the stupidest people to do the tech support for computer companies. Ok, Apple is fine. I mean the guy I talked to for my issue that I had with my iMac did have to put me on hold to go ask someone (well, I think that’s what he was doing) how to fix the problem but I was really only on the phone for about 5 minutes.

Anyways, my current issue, which has now been resolved, was with my laptop. It’s a Gateway MX3410. What happened was that the wireless driver seemed to not be working. It was fine up until two weeks ago. It just all of a sudden stopped detecting wireless networks. I reinstalled the drivers more than once. I downloaded the driver from the Gateway website and tried to install that. Nothing.

So then I finally got a chance to email Support. They got back to me pretty fast, but the email was the most ridiculous thing. This guy, his name is apparently Mark, told me to…take a wild guess!… REINSTALL THE DRIVER!! GAH!!!!! I clearly stated in my email that I had already done that more than once. Then the proceeded to tell me that if that was unsuccessful, to DOWLOAD THE DRIVER. AHHH!!!!!

Then he goes on to tell me ho enable the wireless network card by going through some steps that he gave me, which were not at all accurate. I tried to do what he said just so I could say that I could but the fact is that I couldn’t. The things he was telling me to click were just not there. They are non-existent.

He gave me another option, which again involved steps that were impossible due to the buttons or links he told me to click not existing.

Then he continues by telling me how to set up a wireless network. HELLO?!? I’ve obviously done that before!!!!!! But I continued to read his instructions, which were beginning to make less and less sense. I think maybe he had some alcohol or drugs in his system because some of the stuff wasn’t making any sense even after reading it 5 times.

And I mean come on, don’t they expect their staff to use at least somewhat technical terminology. Here is a direct quote from the email:

The window will then go away.

What is that?! Ok, if you’re telling someone who is completely computer illiterate and maybe never used a computer before, or just someone who is a bit slow or something would need you to say something like that. But seriously. No one says “the window will go away.” Usually it’s something more along the lines of “the window will then close on it’s own.” That’s a little more professional sounding. Ok, maybe I’m making too much of this, but I mean really! What is this shit?!?

I did manage to fix it though, with no help from tech support. I was just experimenting with some things on it so I don’t know exactly what I did but I have a bit of an idea. Although, I thought that I had tried it before, but maybe I didn’t. I’m not really sure. Either way, it works now and that’s all that matters.

I was going to send a nasty reply to the email but I decided against it. They’ll send me a follow-up email at some point to ask whether or not it was helpful.

The stupid thing is that the last time I had to contact them, the exact same thing happened. It was a completely different issue but they told me to do things that didn’t work. Eventually we managed to get the problem fixed after 3 or 4 emails back and forth. You’d think that the company would want their customers’ problems to be resolved fast and effectively, but apparently not. They’d rather the customer get frustrated and angry before the problem gets solved. It’s ridiculous.

iMac!

Sunday, December 16th, 2007

So, my parents came into Lethbridge Last night to help me get stuff packed and to go to Future Shop to see if they had any of the iMacs in stock that we decided that we were going to buy for me. They did!

This is what I got:

iMac
» 20-inch (viewable) widescreen active-matrix LCD display
» 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor
» 4MB shared L2 cache
» 1GB of 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM; supports up to 4GB
» 250GB Serial ATA hard drive
» Slot-loading SuperDrive (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
» ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT graphics processor with 128MB of GDDR3 SDRAM
» Built-in iSight video camera
» Built-in 10/100/1000BASE-T Ethernet (external and cable modem ready)
» One FireWire 800 Port; one FireWire 400 port; three high-speed USB 2.0 ports; two high-speed USB 2.0 ports on keyboard
» Built-in AirPort Extreme wireless networking
» Built-in Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR (Enhanced Data Rate)
» Audio: built-in stereo speakers; integrated microphone; optical digital audio input/audio line in; optical digital audio output/headphone out
» DVI video output; VGA video output; S-video and composite video output
» Apple Remote, Apple Keyboard, and Mighty Mouse
» Included Software: Mac OS X, Front Row, Spotlight, Dashboard, Mail, iChat AV, Safari, Address Book, QuickTime, iLife (iPhoto, iMovie, iWeb, GarageBand, iDVD, iTunes), Photo Booth, iCal, and more

We decided to buy it there because it was only 99 cents more than the price on the Apple Online Store, but then we would have to pay shipping and whatnot for it, and then I would have to wait for it to come. Although, maybe that would have been a good idea because I’m having too much fun playing with it but I have to get some assignments done for Jim’s classes by Tuesday. But I left most of my software in my desk in my room in res so I can’t really install some of my stuff. I was going to download at least my purchased music from my iPod on to my iMac but I was smart and forgot to bring the USB cable. But I found a solution! I put all moy music from my laptop onto my external hard drive and and then imported it into my iTunes on my iMac. That will also save me the time of importing all my CDs later, although I still don’t even have all my CDs on it anyway because I never did finish doing that after I downgraded my laptop back to Windows XP.

Anyways, I’m having fun with it. It’s so cool! I love the quality of the display! It’s AMAZING!!! The keyboard and the mouse have taken some getting used to but it’s not so bad now.

The keyboard is kind of flat because it’s so thin. I wasn’t sure if I was going to like it because I thought it would feel more like when you don’t use the little things to prop up your keyboard, because it doesn’t have them, but it is propped up a bit. I don’t mind it though. I think it’s because the keys are so flat that I don’t really notice it as much. It’s weird. But they’re much nicer and easier to press than the the old Mac keyboards that they have in the Multimedia Mac Lab at the college. I find those keys are very stiff and I tend to miss a lot of letters on there because it’s so hard to type on it. But this is really nice!

The mouse it’s too bad. At first it didn’t have the right clicking option but I found how to change it. It’s still all like one button, like the old Mac mouses, but it somehow senses where you’re pressing from. It’s cool. And the little scroll wheel is so tiny, it feels a little weird but I like it because it can scroll both vertically and horizontally. It took some time for me to figure out why every once in a while my display would go out and show me all the windows I had open, and then I figured out that it’s because I was accidentally squeezing the side buttons on the mouse. I didn’t even know they were there. Well, I knew they were there, but I didn’t know that they were actually buttons.

I love the remote! I can be watching a movie or playing music and not sitting at my desk and I can pause it, skip, turn the volume up and down. It’s cool!

I wasn’t sure if the built-in speakers would be any good because any other computer we’ve ever had that came with built-in speakers (including my laptop) would just be basic speakers that aren’t really any good for music or movies but the speakers in this thing are amazing! Well, for computer speakers anyway. I can turn the volume up really loud and it still has really good quality and it doesn’t distort at all. It’s so awesome! The speakers in my laptop are just crap. If you want music to sound decent you have to have the volume low because if you turn it up, it sounds kind or hollow, and it distorts quite a bit. It’s like there’s a mini subwoofer inside this thing or something because it’s got good bass for small speakers. If I turn it up I can feel it vibrate the desk a little bit.

I love the screen resolution too! 1680 x 1050. It’s going to be awesome when I get Adobe Creative Suite because there’s so much “screen real estate” as Tanya says. It’ll be awesome for Photoshop, Illustrator, and Flash!

Plus, the size of the screen is great for movies and stuff too. It’s funny because it’s almost the same size as our “big” TV. Not for long though! My parents are planning to get a new TV now. They’ve been talking about it forever but it sounds like they’re actually going to do it now. We were looking at Future Shop after we bought my iMac. It looks like we’re probably going to get an LG 32-inch LCD TV.

Anyways, I am really impressed with everything on this computer! I absolutely love it.

Christmas/Birthday Present!!!

Wednesday, December 12th, 2007

I just got off the phone with my dad. We finally settled on what my new computer is going to be! I’m going to be getting the 20″ iMac with 250GB hard drive and 1GB RAM. We settled on that because it’s cheaper than the laptop that I want, but since I’m planning to switch to CIT and not staying in Multimedia, we felt that this would be good, and then I still have my Windows XP laptop. Even though it’s crap.

………

Ok, I wrote that little part a while ago and I saved it in WordPress but I forgot about it and never finished/posted it. Since then, I have officially been accepted into the Computer Information Technology program at Lethbridge College. I just signed the paper for it today. I’m still finishing up my assignments and whatnot for Multimedia from this term though. It would be a waste not to, although my marks are probably high enough that it wouldn’t be too bad, but I don’t want to take the chance.

I have three assignments left to do, and one that I need to fix some stuff on. Jim’s Annotated Bibliography for Research and Writing for New Media was due yesterday but I couldn’t get it done. I’m working on it today. Frank’s final assignments are due this week: Multimedia Principles & Design final is due Thursday, I guess that’s tomorrow. Damnit! And the Digital Video final is due Friday. Then I think Jim is accepting overdue assignment til Tuesday, I should double check that. Because the assignment I need to fix things on was the informational website content for Jim’s class. That was the one that was kind of between both his classes. But I just have to redo the writing part. He also told me that he was expecting to be “wowed” by my website but apparently he wasn’t. I don’t know what he was expecting from me. It wasn’t a bad design by any means but it apparently it didn’t “wow” him. I mean COME ON!!!! I had a million other assignments going at the time and he expected some elaborate design from me because I’ve been designing websites since I was 13 and have been using CSS for almost as long. FRIG!! That email really pissed me off. Maybe it’s a good thing I can’t find it anymore.

Anyways, now that I got that out of my system, I should get back to working on that stupid ass annotated bibliography.

Computers, Computers, Computers

Sunday, November 25th, 2007

My laptop is driving me insane! It’s still constantly freezing on me, even after I defrag it. I was going to put a bunch of pictures on CDs to get them off the hard drive but my CD/DVD burner won’t work. I put a blank disc in, and about 75% of the time it makes weird noises (I’ve tried repeatedly to do this) and then when I try to burn the disc it tells me in insert a blank disc. On that note, I guess it’s good that I’m going to get a new computer soon, hopefully. My dad and I have still been discussing it.

Now on to school. For my current classes, I’m down to 10 assignments. Yes, ten, that’s not a typo. I had two due yesterday. It would have been three but the date was extended, and even so, I’m still not finished that one. I have no idea what I’m going to do for it. It’s due Monday.

So, to explain what I was talking about in my last post, I have decided that I am not going to complete my Multimedia Diploma. I will for sure be finishing this semester, since it’s finished two weeks from Tuesday. I’ve decided that I am going to switch to CIT (Computer Information Technology). I realized, while doing research for a paper, that that’s more where my interests lie. I really love the programming side of computers and the web. I kind of knew that I wouldn’t get that from Multimedia, and yet, I still decided to go into it. I don’t regret it though.

I have liked the classes, for the most part, from this semester, but next semester, I’m not really looking forward to. “The Principles of Animation”, yeah I really don’t want to do animation! “Writing for Interactive Media” I probably won’t enjoy a whole lot. “Interactive Project”? Uh…yeah…no. “Using Flash and Web Standards”, ok I might like that. “Communication Process”… don’t care. And “Web Graphics, Layout, and Interactive Design”, I can probably survive without it since I already know it. I mean I barely learned anything in “Scripting for Multimedia and the Web” this term. I really don’t see myself finishing this diploma. It’s really not what I want. And lets face it, I’m really not the best at the “design” side of things.

CIT has all the stuff I enjoy and am interested in learning more. That’s not to say that I wasn’t interested in Multimedia. In the last few years, I have wanted learn how to edit video and go more into graphic design. I really wanted to learn Adobe Illustrator! But when I’m sitting at a computer, I’m always interested in learning things about the computer itself, and how it runs. I loved when Frank was passing parts of computers around the class. And if I’m doing something for a website, I love the programming part of it. I could sit there and write and play with code forever. I love it more than sitting and editing pictures and stuff in Photoshop. Everything about CIT just catches my interest more.

For the first time in my life I’m actually considering University. If I complete the CIT diploma here at LC (or even at another college), I could transfer to a University somewhere and get a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science. Before this, I had never considered University. I’m not saying that I will go to University for sure, but the fact that I’m even considering it is huge. It’s a big step for me. Before, all I wanted want to was get my education over with and work in a field that I would enjoy, and also get out of retail. But now I’m really thinking about my future and I’m excited for it.

I’ve gotten my parents blessing. Now, all I have to do is find out how hard it will be for me to change programs. They do take students in January but who knows if I will be able to get in for January. If I do, then that’s great. If I don’t then I’ll apply for September and work until then. I was considering still taking that Using Flash and Web Standards class if I don’t get into CIT for January since I do like Flash, but now I don’t know. We’ll see.

On that loverly computer geeky note, I am going to go to bed because I am really tired. And I need to get working on that stupid video tomorrow. I still don’t know what to do!

Cooking With Keira

I thought I’d share my movie that I made for my digital video class with you guys. I’m warning you now, it’s very lame! But it’s funny. (I’m putting it behind a more link to avoid long page loading time.)

It has music so you should have your sound on the get the whole effect. lol.

The more I watch it the more it amuses me lol. And I had been avoiding doing it because I really didn’t want to video tape myself. That’s why I was laughing throughout everything I shot in the green screen studio (all the mini-me shots lol). I really wish I could remember some specific things we learned in class for this because the part when I take myself out of the toaster doesn’t go how I wanted it to but I didn’t know how to get around it and still use the part with me on the plate, which also looks kind of bad after I rotated myself it went all weird.

My music totally doesn’t go with it but I was having a hard time getting the sound I wanted for it because I kept finding loops that I really liked but they didn’t work for the video or go with what I had. One day I’m going to spend the entire day making songs out of GarageBand loops!! lol. It’s fun.

If you are not able to view the video from here please let me know. I’m trying out a WordPress Plugin for embedding videos but it doesn’t appear to be working for me right now but I also don’t have the greatest connection (good ol’ rez internet lol). There are a few plugins that might work and I would try them right now but it’s getting late, I’m sleepy, and I have to get two assignments (one is much bigger than the other) done this weekend, due Monday. And Cecil’s coming down again too (I just found out on Thursday). So I’m going to go to bed now. I will talk to you all later :)

Converting to Mac

Friday, November 9th, 2007

So it’s starting to look like I might finally be getting a Mac! It won’t be until after Christmas, but my dad and I have been discussing it. I was thinking just getting an iMac might be fine. The new iMacs are really cool looking, but he’s been pushing the laptop idea so that’s probably what I’ll end up getting. I don’t know it’s going to be a MacBook or a MacBook Pro. I’m hoping for a Pro because they’re cooler looking, but they’re $2000+ so I don’t know. We’ll see what happens.

My current laptop has been acting up lately. I think I’ve got it working a little better right now, I hadn’t defraged it in a while and I did that and it’s seems to be working a bit better, but it’s still freezing on me. Before I defraged it, it was freezing on me every 5 seconds and all I had open was MSN and Firefox. It was getting ridiculous. I usually have at least three programs running at one time so I definitely need something working faster.

Ever since the release of Windows Vista, my respect for Microsoft Windows has gone downhill. I’ve been having so many issues with it. As some of you know, I had upgraded my laptop to Vista but ended up going back to XP because it couldn’t handle it. It says it’s Windows Vista capable, because it was release only a few months after I got my laptop (I’ve had my laptop for just over a year) I thought it would probably be ok, but I was wrong. They’ve got way too much going on in the Vista operating system alone to even have enough RAM left to run any programs.

Macs don’t seem to have that problem. Mac OS X is great. It’s simple but really great!! I’m in love with Apple! lol.

Anyways, I think that’s all I really wanted to say right now. I figured I should post something since I haven’t posted in a little while. That’s all.
