Passion

Tuesday, May 27th, 2008

This past weekend I went to YC in Edmonton with my church’s youth group. It was absolutely amazing. I knew a lot of people to go during high school but I wasn’t involved in youth back then so I never went. Since I’ve been helping out with youth recently, they wanted me to go. So I went and I loved it.

I posted some pictures on Facebook (for those of you who have me as a friend on there) and I’m in the process of uploading some videos. I will put all of my videos on YouTube eventually too.

Island Dog

Thursday, May 22nd, 2008

I was just watching Ellen and this guy, Steve McGarva, was on talking about how he went down to Puerto Rico to go surfing or something but ended up helping dogs that were abandoned on what they call “Dead Dog Beach”. People were just dumping unwanted dogs there to die because they didn’t want them. I was in tears watching this and even when I went to their website afterwards (IslandDog.org). I just can’t believe that people would do anything like this. But the work they’re doing is amazing. And they’re bringing these dogs that they help into the US to good homes and no-kill shelters.

I would really love to help them somehow. I don’t really know how because I’m kind of broke right now and there’s no way I would be able to rescue/adopt a dog (which I would absolutely love to do) since I’m still living at home and very likely not even going to be here in September since I’m likely going too far away for school. But if anyone reading is able to get involved somehow I really encourage you to. And let me know if you do and what you do to help them!! Even if it’s just a donation.

Again, the website is islanddog.org. Go there for more information. They’re also working with horses and cats down there too.

From Figure Skating Champion to Dance Champion

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008

I don’t normally watch those sort of performing “reality” shows but this season I was sort of keeping track of Dancing with the Stars. It started because I was waiting for Corner Gas to come on after, but then I found out that Kristi Yamaguchi (Olympic champion figure skater) was on the show. She was my hero when I was a kid. So I started watching the show (not very often but sometimes I would turn it on) just for her. And she kept getting the highest scores from the judges. It was kind of exciting.

Even though I didn’t watch the show every week I did pick out the two who I thought could possibly win the competition. Kristi, obviously, and Jason (the football player). I kept saying that Kristi would win but I though Jason would do pretty good too. And just as I had called it, they were the last two competing last night for that ugly trophy. And Kristi won!! It was exciting!

So now, who’s going to win American Idol? David! HA! No, I really don’t know. I haven’t watched that one since season 2. Lol. I only know that the two guys left are both named David because I watch Ellen everyday and she’s always talking about American Idol. And Simon was on her show the other day as well. They both said they think David Cook will win so I’ll go with him. I really don’t know what either of them even sound like so I’m not making any real call on that one.

Don’t expect me to watch Canadian Idol either. I gave up on that one I think the year after I gave up on American Idol. I don’t watch those kind of shows anymore. Usually with Canadian Idol though I’ll watch the last few episode just to see who the next big singers are going to be. But I usually don’t get into their music unless they’re more my style of music, but usually they aren’t.

Anyways, I think that’s all I have to say right now. Oh, except that I’m finally trying to get something done on my WP theme for my blog here, but I’m not making any guarantees on when I will have it done.

Get Movin’ Into Action

Friday, May 16th, 2008

I just wanted to put this post out there to say good luck to my friend Chris over at Chris Appeal. He will be appearing in the new music video for one of my favourite singer/songwriters, Skye Sweetnam. The music video is for her new single (Let’s Get Movin’) Into Action from her album Sound Soldier.

Doors… Re-opening…? Ugh…

Tuesday, May 13th, 2008

I feel like my head is going to explode. Literally and emotionally..I now have a headache from this. I don’t know what I’m doing anymore. This is some what of a follow-up to my last post: Doors. I just found out that I got an offer of admissions to one of the colleges in Ontario that I applied at. It’s my second choice of the two and my first choice is now wait listed, but I haven’t heard anything from them yet. Plus, on top of that some more stuff has come up that might change more stuff. I mean this isn’t anything that’s happening for sure right now but I can see it definitely being a possibility. I’m so confused right now. I think that’s part of why I haven’t found a job yet, because I have so much on my mind that I’m not thinking about jobs a whole lot. I mean I’ve been applying to a few but it just doesn’t seem like it’s on the top of my priority list right now, even though it should be.

Anyways, I have to run out and pick something up, and get some gas before the price goes up anymore.

Doors

Sunday, May 11th, 2008

Over the last couple weeks some more doors have been opened. Some have been closed but not locked. Of the doors that are remaining open right now, I think I know which one I will go through. At first it seemed like a bit of a leap for me. This door has been there all along but it seemed to be hidden at the end of the hallway where I couldn’t really see it. But now that I’ve found it, its intriguing and definitely has my attention.

By the end of the summer you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about. Probably before then.
